Patola, is a tagalog term for luffa or ridge gourd. It is one of the most common vegetables in the Philippines which is the most favorite stew ingredient. Patola soup is one of the best soup appetizer being served during lunch or before the proper meal. Patola is the main ingredient in some popular Filipino recipe such as "
ginisang patola sa miswa",
bulanglang,
inabraw and my most favorite
pork sinigang. In my personal experience, patola is best when added to pork sinigang because it adds extra-ordinary taste and natural sweetness that you'll surely love.
This recipe is an easy to prepare Filipino soup dish using patola as the basic ingredient. It's a healthy soup recipe which is rich in Vitamin B and natural fiber that helps in better digestion.
Ingredients:
- 2 medium patola (luffa) sliced
- miswa (fine wheat noodle)
- 1 onion sliced
- 2 pcs. garlic minced
- 2 tbsp.olive oil
- 1 glass of water
- 1/2 tsp. iodized salt
Procedure:
- Heat oil on a deep pan
- Add garlic cook until brown
- Add the patola and cook for 5 mins.
- Add water and miswa
- Season to taste
- Boil for another 2 mins.
Serve hot.
